Amanda Brugel
(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. The West Island has a lot of communities. Many who've never heard of it often confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. She was determined to be a professional dancer but because of a huge expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers that turned to acting. Her teacher from high school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the main part for Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated from the program in 2000, earning a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. For the past twenty years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been numerous. Her role as Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member for Season 1 of the series and only appeared on occasion.
